November 2024 My Macrame-Inspired Rainbow Punch Needle Kit sample arrived a couple of weeks after I ordered it. Receiving a sample is always exciting, but it usually ends up being a little disappointing (or a lot). |

My sample contained a lot: a box, framed monk’s cloth with the printed pattern, punch needle, punch needle threaders, yarn, and some yarn color charts that I requested from a manufacturer. I hadn’t sent art for a box, so they used one they had. I really liked its style and design. The framed monk’s cloth was perfect. I love how it looks. This canvas will be ideal for the product I am creating. The pattern…well…it is not where I want it. My design is too small, and I decided that I don’t like the rainbow arches touching. I ordered some fancy wool-blend yarn on Etsy, so I completed my design, but the colors don’t feel right either. I love the yarn, but I need to change the colors to align with my vision. |

The punch needle is perfect. It is a higher-quality, adjustable punch needle with two shafts of different sizes. I am excited for my customers to use this style. I wanted to test out some punch needle threaders that are more durable than the pieces of wire that come standard with punch needle sets. I haven’t yet decided if these are worth the extra money. The yarn Olivia sent was her best guess at colors, but they weren’t what I had in mind, so I didn’t even use them. Finally, I requested color charts for entire yarn lines: one for a milk cotton line and one for the wool-blend yarn I had set my hopes on. The colors for the wool yarn were precisely what I had in mind. So, some pieces of the sample worked, but the main component—the design—needed to be redone, and the design fun began! |
