September 2024
While going for a walk around my neighborhood, I was trying to think of new punch needle design ideas. Or other projects that people might enjoy doing.
Of course, I wanted it simple enough for beginners/newbie crafters but also enjoyable for more advanced crafters as well. I knew macrame was still very popular and played with the idea of a macrame kit (I haven’t fully written off the idea for a future product launch).
But punch needle is where I started and I didn’t quite feel ready to move on to another modality altogether.
Then it hit me…what if I could combine both punch needle and macrame into one design?! Okay, this could be really cool, I thought. So the creative juices started to flow.
I had an idea but wanted to run it past a few people first to see if it was as cool to them as it was to me. I reached out to my sourcing agent, Olivia, to see if my idea was even feasible. She agreed that it was a unique idea and could absolutely be created. Getting even more excited about this possibility, I then spoke to a few more people to get their take on my idea. The response from my friends was overwhelmingly positive.
At this point, I decided that my idea was worth pursuing. I knew that my product should have a premium adjustable punch needle included. I also wanted the monk’s cloth to be framed. So now I needed to turn my attention to the design.
October 2024
I had fun playing with pattern ideas for this design and landed on my theme pretty quickly. I knew that I wanted my new kit to be a Macrame-inspired Punch Needle Kit.
The design would be a punch needle pattern with elements that resemble macrame. I wanted the punch needle stitches to resemble the aspect of macrame wrapping yarn around a cord. I came up with my initial design, sent it off to Olivia, and ordered my first sample!
See you next week where I will reveal my design with pics of my first product sample!
