March 2025
The soundtrack for this week’s update is womp womp.
So I went with my original yarn choice. The colors were what I wanted, and I had tested it on my monk’s cloth, so I was confident that it would work for my kit. But I noticed that the fiber content included mink and not wool, so I reached out to the manufacturer about this. I need wool and was told this yarn was a wool blend.
They replied back and told me they were wrong and that it was a wool blend. But…and it is a biggie…they are discontinuing the yarn line and I would need to find an alternative. Well, there blew my May 5 launch date.
I was pretty discouraged by this news because landing on a yarn line is the most challenging part of designing a punch needle kit. Most importantly, it needs to have the right colors for the project and be high-quality so that it stays in the monk’s cloth.
So, it was back quite a few steps to evaluating yarn.
After quite a bit of back and forth with the yarn manufacturer and reaching out to a new manufacturer, I have new yarn samples and color charts coming with my now not-so-final sample.
I think I landed on a suitable alternative, but I am concerned that the colors aren’t what I envision for this rainbow. I loved the colors from the last yarn line. They were absolutely perfect for the boho look I was trying to achieve.
If the colors in this new yarn line don’t work out, I may have to choose new colors altogether for the rainbow.
I think I am now looking at a launch date of early to mid-June. This feels like a huge fail, but some of this was out of my control.
Meanwhile, I am running out of stock on Blossoms in Spring, the punch needle kit for sale right now on Amazon. As of yesterday, I had Amazon’s Overall Pick badge and had to raise the price to slow down sales until my next bulk order arrives, which will (hopefully) be the first week of April.
Thank you for sticking with me through this journey; it means the world to me that you would take the time to read these emails. If you have a friend who might enjoy this process or is considering launching a product, feel free to forward these emails to them.
